Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Santosh Kumar Singh has instructed all police officers, including station in-charges and Anti-Crime and Cyber Unit personnel in Raipur Police, to locate and take action against individuals involved in betting activities. They have been tasked with effectively curbing the betting business.
On April 4, 2024, the Anti Crime and Cyber Unit, acting on a tip-off, apprehended an individual engaged in online betting at his fish shop near the country liquor shop in Baikunth village, under the jurisdiction of Tilda Nevra police station. A joint team led by senior officers raided the location and arrested the suspect, identified as Virendra Jaiwal. Upon searching his possession, a mobile phone used for conducting online betting and a sum of Rs. 10,000/- in cash were seized. A case (Crime number 195/24) was registered against Jaiwal under Section 7 of the Gambling (Prohibition) Act 2022 at the Tilda Nevra police station. Jaiwal, aged 43 and residing in Baikunth Cabin, Ward 20, falls under the jurisdiction of Police Station Tilda Nevra, District Raipur.
