Two suspects who stole four truck batteries and one tarpaulin have been arrested

(12:05): In response to the rise in theft incidents, Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Santosh Kumar Singh has instructed all police gazetted officers and station in-charges in Raipur district, along with the anti-crime and cyber units, to take measures to curb theft and apprehend the culprits. Guidelines have been provided for this purpose.

On May 10, 2024, Shailendra Pal filed a report stating that on May 9, 2024, at 7:00 pm, he had secured himself at Bombay MP Logistics Transport Yard, Basant Vihar, Gondwara, Raipur, and went home. Trucks with registration numbers MH 31 FC 4462 and MH 40 N 5282 were parked inside the yard. When he returned to the yard at 10:00 am on May 10, 2024, he discovered that four batteries and one tarpaulin were missing from the trucks, allegedly stolen by unknown thieves. The report was taken up for investigation, and a case was registered under crime number 440/24, sections 457 and 380 of the IPC, at Khamtarai police station.

During the investigation, information was received from an informant that two individuals were hiding four batteries near Gondwara Over Bridge, attempting to sell them. Acting on this tip-off, officers surrounded and interrogated two individuals matching the description provided by the informant. It was revealed that on May 9, 2024, the accused stole four batteries and one tarpaulin from trucks MH 31 FC 4462 and MH 40 N 5282 parked at Bombay MP Logistics Transport Yard in Basant Vihar, Gondwara, and were attempting to sell them near Gondwara Over Bridge. Subsequently, four batteries and one tarpaulin worth Rs. 40,000 were seized from the accused. They were arrested and sent on judicial remand.

Arrested accused:

  1. Rameshwar Sai Paikra, son of Ramprasad Paikra, aged 40, resident of Sakin village, Rangartoli police station, Kansabel district, Jashpur. Presently residing near Gandhi Maidan, Chawri police station, Kotwali district, Raipur.
  2. Buddhadu Singh, son of Itwari Singh, aged 47, resident of Sakin village, Kumha police station, Mawai district, Mandla (M.P.). Presently residing under the over bridge, Gondwara police station, Khamtrai Raipur.
