Manendragarh. (08:04): Yesterday, in Chhattisgarh, Leader of Opposition Charandas Mahant made a controversial statement about PM Modi, leading to an FIR being filed against him. His MP wife, Jyotsna Mahant, has also voiced support for him.
He further asserted that the BJP is free to talk and do as they please; they are not afraid of the BJP. Charandas Mahant also mentioned that the Chhattisgarhi language itself has such expressions, indicating that the statement was not meant to be taken seriously.
During Bhupesh Baghel’s nomination on April 2 in Rajnandgaon, Mahant targeted his opponents, stating the need for a strong leader who could stand up to Narendra Modi and industrialists like Naveen Jindal. Mahant clarified his statement amidst the controversy, emphasizing that his words were misinterpreted and that he holds the position of the Prime Minister in high regard. He apologized if his words caused any offense.
