Chhattisgarh. (14:03): The Mahtari Vandan Yojana, launched by the Vishnu Dev government of Chhattisgarh, has sparked controversy over discrepancies in the released figures. Initially, the government announced funds for 70,12800 eligible women, but later revised the number to 68,53,000. This discrepancy has raised questions about the scheme’s transparency.
The Congress party has criticized the government, alleging a scam in the scheme. They argue that if the money had truly reached 68.5 lakh women, the amount disbursed should have been Rs 685.3 crore, not Rs 636.44 crore as claimed by the government. State Congress Committee President Deepak Baij demanded the public disclosure of the beneficiary names.
In response, Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal stated that the difference in figures could be due to beneficiaries lacking KYC verification.
The government released updated data, stating that Rs 636.44 crore would be distributed to 68,53,000 women. However, this amount falls short of the expected Rs 685.3 crore based on the revised number of beneficiaries. This discrepancy in figures raises concerns about the scheme’s implementation and transparency, highlighting the need for data accuracy to ensure its success.
