Raigarh. (15:03): During the recent crime meeting, SP Divyang Patel voiced strong objection to the absconding of suspects involved in serious crimes. All in-charges were instructed to make diligent efforts to promptly apprehend these fugitives. Acting on these directives, the team led by Inspector Rajesh Jangde of Lailunga police station successfully apprehended the absconding murder suspect, Ganpat Sarathi. Sarathi, a resident of Naharpara in Lailunga, had been evading arrest for the past six months. He was arrested this morning in Raigarh and subsequently remanded to judicial custody.
On September 3, 2023, Lailunga police received information about the body of a 30-35-year-old woman found in the passenger waiting room at Chilkaguda Chowk village under their jurisdiction. Identified as Kamla Sarathi, the deceased was married to Ganpat Sarathi, a resident of Sagarpali village under Lailunga police station. The couple had arrived at Chilkaguda for a trip to Champa on September 2, 2023. During questioning, Ganpat confessed to assaulting Kamla, resulting in her death from serious injuries to her face and forehead. Following the discovery, Lailunga police conducted a post-mortem and initiated a murder case against Ganpat. After evading authorities for some time, Ganpat was apprehended in Raigarh by Inspector Rajesh Jangde and his team, acting on a tip-off. Ganpat has been remanded to judicial custody. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Divyang Kumar Patel, with significant contributions from various members of the police force and the cyber team.
