(13:04): In IPL 2024, Mayank Yadav, the fast bowler representing Lucknow Supergiants, has garnered significant attention for his impressive line, length, and pace. New Zealand’s Tim Southee has particularly praised Mayank, highlighting his exceptional control despite his remarkable speed. Southee commended Mayank’s abilities, stating, “A lot of players who possess such speed often lack control, but Mayank has both speed and control.” He expressed eagerness to witness Mayank’s performance not only in the IPL but also in his future endeavors with other teams.
Mayank, who has battled ankle and hamstring injuries throughout his career, made his IPL debut this season against Punjab Kings, showcasing his prowess by bowling at speeds of up to 150 kmph. In his second IPL match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mayank impressed further by claiming three wickets for just 14 runs, including the fastest ball of the IPL at 156.7 km per hour.
However, Mayank faced challenges in the subsequent match against Gujarat Titans, where he struggled with his pace due to his injuries. Despite managing to bowl over 140 km per hour only twice in the over, he conceded 13 runs before leaving the field with the team physio. There are reports that Mayank may miss the next two matches for Lucknow as the management prioritizes his full recovery before fielding him again.
