On March 30, 2024, acting on a tip-off, the Excise Team raided village Chhuiya Pali to crack down on the production of illegal hand-kiln Mahua liquor. They discovered five hand kilns operating at various locations on the mountain adjacent to Chhuiya Pali village. During the raid, they seized a total of 4150 kg of Mahua Lahan in the fermentation stage, stored in plastic boxes and jute sacks, valued at Rs 2,07,500.
Additionally, they confiscated 180 liters of hand-crafted Mahua liquor stored in plastic sacks and bags, valued at Rs 36,000. Consequently, the total market value of the recovered items amounted to Rs. 2,43,500.
The confiscated liquor was seized and properly documented, while the Mahua Lahan was destroyed on-site. A case was filed against the unidentified culprits under sections 34(1)(a)(f), 34(2), and 59(a) of the Excise Act 1915. The case is under investigation, focusing on the unknown perpetrators involved.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Excise Sub Inspector Shivshankar, leading the team from Excise Circle Saraipali, with the presence of Excise Constable Rajkishore Pandey and other staff from Saraipali.
