The cyber cell and Kotwali police caught two youths in the city for betting on the Delhi-Chennai cricket match

Mashrooka valued at Rs 2 lakhs, along with Rs 35,000 cash, 1 iPhone, and 1 mobile phone, were confiscated from the accused. Investigations into online cricket betting in Raigarh city are ongoing.

Raigarh. (02:04): Under the directive of Raigarh Superintendent of Police Divyang Kumar Patel, crackdowns on online cricket betting are underway in the district. Recently, three individuals were apprehended by the cyber cell and Kotwali police for engaging in online cricket betting in the city.

Acting on an informant’s tip-off, a joint team led by City Superintendent of Police Akash Shukla and DSP Cyber Cell Abhinav Upadhyay arrested Gaurav Dewangan and Azhar Mohammad. Gaurav was caught betting near Dhimrapur Chowk, while Azhar was apprehended near Jindal Road Dhimrapur Chowk. Cash amounting to Rs. 35,000, along with an iPhone and a OnePlus mobile phone, were seized from the accused. Both individuals have been charged under Section 7 of the Chhattisgarh Gambling Prohibition Act. The police operation also resulted in the seizure of Mashrooka worth Rs. 2,07,000, including the money used for betting. The raid was conducted with the participation of several officers, including Inspector Sukhnandan Patel and head constable Hemant Patre.
