Simran Singh, a well-known social media influencer and radio jockey from Jammu and Kashmir, tragically died by suicide on Wednesday evening in her rented apartment in Gurugram, Haryana.
Popularly referred to as “Jammu ki Dhadkan,” 25-year-old RJ Simran had built a following of over 7 lakh on Instagram. Her content ranged from humorous videos and dance reels to fashion, makeup tips, and mini travel vlogs. Her vibrant personality and engaging posts resonated with her audience, helping her amass a significant fan base.
Last year, Simran had the opportunity to meet actor Abhishek Bachchan at an event, sharing a playful video with him on Instagram captioned, “Simran being Simran. Clumsy behaviour 101.” She was also known for sharing videos featuring her pet dog, Scooter.
Her final post, shared on December 13, shows her dancing by the ocean in a gown, accompanied by the caption, “Just a girl with endless giggles and her gown, taking over the beach.”
Reports suggest Simran had been dealing with personal challenges. After a written complaint from her family, a post-mortem examination was conducted on Thursday morning, and her body was later handed over to her family.
The news of her untimely death has led to an outpouring of grief. Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) President Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Vice President Omar Abdullah, and Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary expressed their condolences on social media.
In a statement on X, the JKNC said:
“Dr. Farooq Abdullah, President of the JKNC, and Vice President and Chief Minister @OmarAbdullah along with Deputy CM @Surinderch55 have expressed profound grief over the tragic & untimely demise of Simran Singh, popularly known as RJ Simran and lovingly referred to as ‘Jammu ki Dhadkan.’”
