(07:05): Sad news has emerged from Surguja, Chhattisgarh, where a girl returning home after voting at the Gram Kot polling center in Mainpat block was struck by lightning amidst a sudden storm. She suffered burns and, despite efforts to rush her to the hospital, she passed away. It was her first time voting in the Lok Sabha elections.
The weather has abruptly changed across Chhattisgarh, with heavy rain in many districts. In Mungeli, there was light rain accompanied by strong winds and storms, bringing relief from the heat but causing damage to polling station tents and curtains.
