Regarding the arrest of an individual found in possession of Rs 7.50 lakh (Rs 7.30 lakh) in cash and handing him over for further action

(22:04): Today, on the 22nd of April 2024, under the guidance of Divisional Security Commissioner Raipur Sanjay Kumar Gupta, Assistant Sub-Inspector Narendra and Head Constable BL Yadav, in charge of Temple Hasod Task Team, Taruna Sahu, conducted checks on passengers arriving from Train No. 22815 Ernakulam Express at platform 01.

During the inspection, a person was stopped near the staircase while leaving the platform. Identified as Mahesh Panjwani, son of Bhojmal Panjwani, aged 45 years, residing in Mahashakti ward, Bhatapara police station, Bhatapara district, Baloda Bazar (Chhattisgarh), he was questioned about a black bag in his possession. He stated that the bag contained cash amounting to ₹ 750,000 (seven lakh fifty thousand). However, when asked for documents regarding the cash, he couldn’t provide any valid documents on the spot.

Upon receiving this information, senior officers were immediately notified, and the individual was taken to the Railway Protection Force Post in Raipur. Subsequently, Flying Squad Legislative Assembly Raipur North Zone Executive Magistrate Deepti Tiwari was informed. Upon arrival, the Flying Squad team counted the cash in the presence of witnesses and seized it on the spot under the direction of Executive Magistrate Deepti Tiwari. The Deputy Director of Income Tax 2, Naya Raipur, was informed about the seizure and proceedings through email.
