Press Conference by Congress State President Deepak Baij on Electoral Bonds Scam:
Raipur. (19:03): Deepak Baij, the PCC Chief, accused the BJP of being involved in a scam related to electoral bonds during a press conference held at the Congress State Headquarters. He highlighted that the central government prevented SBI from revealing the complete truth, indicating significant collusion within the government.
Baij emphasized that the truth about the electoral bonds scheme is being concealed, but the Supreme Court has exposed the details. He labeled the election donation scam as a major wrongdoing and called for the cancellation of the BJP’s recognition due to its involvement in the scandal.
The Congress leader alleged that the BJP, while in power, has misused its authority to amass donations, amounting to over Rs 6,000 crores. He demanded that the Supreme Court intervene to revoke the BJP’s recognition.
Baij also criticized the Modi government for its handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, accusing it of misleading the public with symbolic gestures like the candlelight vigil while allegedly misappropriating donations worth Rs 55 crore.
Furthermore, Baij accused the BJP of exploiting government agencies like the CBI and IT to collect donations improperly. He urged the Supreme Court to scrutinize the PM CARES Fund, suggesting the possibility of another significant scandal emerging if its operations were to be fully disclosed.
