The makers of Pushpa 2 announced on Friday that the Allu Arjun-starrer will not be available on any OTT platform anytime soon. Production house Mythri Movie Makers further clarified that the action-packed film will not hit digital streaming platforms before 56 days.
“There are rumours about the OTT release of #Pushpa2TheRule. Enjoy the biggest film #Pushpa2 only on the big screens this holiday season! It won’t be on any OTT platform before 56 days. It’s #WildFirePushpa, only in theatres worldwide,” their post on X stated.
Directed by Sukumar and starring Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil alongside Allu Arjun, Pushpa 2 released in cinemas on December 5. The film created history, emerging as India’s biggest opener of all time by crossing the ₹180 crore mark at the domestic box office on its first day. It shattered the record previously held by Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD, which collected approximately ₹92 crore nett in India on Day 1.
As per Sacnilk, an industry data-tracking platform, Pushpa 2 had amassed a staggering ₹1004.35 crore nett at the domestic box office by Saturday.
A sequel to Allu Arjun’s 2021 blockbuster Pushpa: The Rise, this film delves deeper into the journey of sandalwood smuggler Pushpa Raj, showcasing his rise to global dominance. Allu Arjun’s titular character transitions from controlling a regional racket to operating on an international scale.
Media reports suggest that Allu Arjun is already preparing for the third installment of the franchise, Pushpa 3: The Rampage.
The original 2021 film, Pushpa: The Rise, is currently available for streaming on Prime Video.
