Punjipathra police caught the buyer and two suspects in a construction site rod theft

Raigarh. (15:03): “Punjipathra police arrested two individuals for stealing two bundles of rods from the Om Auto Wheels Project plant under construction in Gerwani village, along with the buyer of the stolen rods.”

Yesterday, contractor Sunil Dewangan reported to the Punjipathra police station regarding the theft of rods from an under-construction plant. The guard at the plant informed that two bundles of 10 mm rods, weighing approximately 115 kg and valued at Rs 6,300, were stolen on March 6. Despite search efforts yielding no results, a theft report was lodged, leading to a case being registered against an unknown perpetrator. Today, based on information from an informant, Rahul Tiwari and Vimal Yadav from Lakha village were apprehended on suspicion of rod theft by Inspector Trinath Tripathi and his team. During interrogation, both confessed to stealing rods from the plant and selling them to Vivek Das Mahant, an employee at Chanda Dhaba in Gerwani, for Rs 5,000, dividing the proceeds among themselves. Vivek Mahant was subsequently detained based on their statements. Acting on their information, stolen rods were recovered, and all three suspects – Rahul Tiwari, son of Komal Prasad Tiwari, aged 19, Vimal Yadav, son of Srilal Yadav, aged 20, both residents of Lakha village, and Vivek Das Mahant, son of late Baba Das Mahant, aged 25, resident of Railway Bangla Para, Kotwali police station area – were arrested by Punjipathra police and remanded in judicial custody.
