Raipur. (24:04): Under the jurisdiction of Maudhapara police station, the accused was caught red-handed with English liquor near Kabadi Chowk on the road. A total of 41 bottles of English liquor of different brands and the four-wheeler vehicle used for transportation, bearing registration number CG/04/NR/6239, were seized from the accused. The total value of the seized liquor is approximately Rs 6,50,000/-.
A case under crime number 148/24, Section 34(2) of the Excise Act, has been registered against the accused in Maudhapara police station. The accused, Om Pratham Dubey, is a known criminal with numerous crimes registered against him at the DD Nagar police station.
As part of the Nijaat Abhiyan, a special campaign against drugs directed by Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Santosh Kumar Singh, Raipur Police has been taking continuous action. On April 22, 2024, the police received information that a person was transporting illegal liquor towards Jaistambh Chowk in a four-wheeler. Additional Superintendent of Police City Mr. Lakhan Patle and City Superintendent of Police Kotwali Mr. Yogesh Sahu directed the Maudhapara police station in-charge, Inspector Manoj Nayak, to apprehend the accused red-handed.
A blockade point was set up at Jaistambh Chowk by the Maudhapara police team, and the accused, later identified as Om Pratham Dubey, was intercepted near Kabadi Chowk on KK Road after a chase. Upon searching his vehicle, the police found 41 bottles of English liquor in the trunk. Despite demands for valid documents regarding the transportation/possession of liquor, the accused failed to produce any.
Om Pratham Dubey was arrested, and the seized liquor and vehicle were confiscated. He was charged under Section 34(2) of the Excise Act, and further action was taken against him at Maudhapara police station.
