PM Modi Visits Adampur Airbase, Debunks Pakistan’s Claims of Its Destruction

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Adampur Air Force Station in Punjab on Tuesday, where he met with Indian Air Force personnel just days after a ceasefire agreement was reached between India and Pakistan.

The visit strongly counters Pakistan’s claims that it had destroyed the Indian Air Force base during recent hostilities in Punjab. The airbase, which houses the advanced S-400 air defence system, remains fully operational. PM Modi arrived early in the morning, received a detailed briefing from senior IAF officers, and spent time interacting with the armed forces personnel, according to PTI sources.AA1EFaYO PM Modi Visits Adampur Airbase, Debunks Pakistan’s Claims of Its Destruction

“Earlier this morning, I visited AFS Adampur and met our brave air warriors and soldiers. It was a very special experience to be with those who epitomize courage, determination, and fearlessness. India is eternally grateful to our armed forces for everything they do for our nation,” the Prime Minister wrote on social media platform X.

The visit comes amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, triggered by the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, where 26 civilians lost their lives in an assault by Pakistan-backed terrorists. In response, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting nine terror camps across the border with precision strikes.

Following days of cross-border hostilities, both nations agreed to a ceasefire on May 10. However, India emphasized that the halt was only a “pause” in operations and that future military decisions would depend on Pakistan’s actions, which are under close scrutiny.

On Monday, the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) from both countries held a second hotline call to reaffirm the ceasefire amid concerns over the growing threat of a war-like scenario between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.

In his first national address since Operation Sindoor, PM Modi stated that India’s ties with Pakistan would remain tense for the foreseeable future. He stressed that any dialogue would be limited to issues of terrorism and Jammu & Kashmir, and reiterated that the Indus Water Treaty would continue to remain suspended for now
