Raigarh. Following these directives, Kapu police arrested an active bike thief in the area, along with recovering five stolen motorcycles. The accused had been targeting bikes for resale.

On April 8th, Police Station Incharge Kapu Inspector Narayan Singh Markam received a tip-off that a young man near Kapu Bus Stand was engaging in discussions regarding the sale of a second-hand bike, lacking necessary documentation, raising suspicions. Acting swiftly, the police station in-charge and his team arrived at the scene, questioning the individual about the bike sale and requesting documentation. The individual admitted to not possessing any documents, prompting further interrogation. Subsequently, the youth, identified as Sanjay alias Kalau Nagesia, confessed to stealing the bike from the Pathalgaon area a month prior, as well as involvement in other thefts from Dharamjaygarh, Pathalgaon, and Khamhar Bazaar. Upon further investigation, Kapu Police accompanied the accused to his residence, where one of the stolen bikes was recovered from his yard in the presence of witnesses.

The accused, Sanjay alias Kalau Ngesia, son of Manglu Ngesia and aged 27 years, residing in Ratanpur, Tihlisarai police station, Kapu district, Raigarh, was found in possession of five motorcycles, namely Hero Honda CD Deluxe (black color, sold), Hero HF Deluxe (black color, sold), Hero HF Deluxe (Red Black, sold), Hero HF Deluxe (Red black color, sold), and Hero Splendor Plus (blue black color, sold), with a total value of approximately Rs 1,80,000. Sanjay admitted to attempting to sell the stolen bike just the day before his arrest.

Further investigation revealed that Sanjay had a criminal record, with a case registered under sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act at Batauli police station, Surguja district. Consequently, Kapu police took action against Sanjay under Istgasa number 1/2024, section 41(1+4) CrPC/379 IPC. He has since been remanded in judicial custody and is currently incarcerated.
