Surajpur. (08:05): In line with the Election Commission of India’s initiative to cater to the needs of senior citizens (85 plus) and disabled individuals, the district provided free voter chariots. Under the direction of Collector and District Election Officer Rohit Vyas, extensive publicity was given to this service, and a toll-free number (1950) was issued for registration. Today, 68 urban voters were taken to their polling centers from different wards through this facility.
In the early morning, flower-decorated voting chariots reached the homes of registered voters, transporting them to their respective polling centers and later back to their homes.
Among these voters were many aged 90 and above, including Mrs. Phuleshwari Vaishnav, 94 years old, from ward number 18, Badkapara, and Mrs. Raimunia Rajwade, 92 years old, also from Badkapara. Mrs. Phuleshwari Vaishnav expressed gratitude for the initiative by the Election Commission of India, while Mrs. Raimunia Rajwade thanked the administration and the District Election Officer for the special Voter Rath facility.
