Sarangarh/Bilaigarh. (14:05): To report any type of cyber fraud promptly, dial the helpline number 1930 or 9479281934 of the cybercrime portal, which operates 24/7. It might be challenging for ordinary citizens to file a complaint on the portal, so it’s easier to provide information via the helpline’s WhatsApp number 9479281934. Include the fraudster’s name, mobile number, the mobile number used for payment, date, and time of the incident.
This information will lead to the registration of the crime in the cybercrime report portal.
Continued action and follow-up by the complainant after filing an online FIR:
After the crime is registered, the complainant will receive the account and bank information of the fraudster from the concerned police station. With this information, the complainant should visit the website of the bank and email their cybercrime complaint number along with the person’s name, mobile number, date, and time of the fraud in the title of the complaint to the bank.
The bank will respond positively to the complainant’s email and notify the fraudster. If there is no satisfactory reply, and if there is proof of fraud, the bank will compel the fraudster to submit an affidavit regarding the amount of fraud committed and deposit the amount in their account.
Hence, it is crucial to register the crime in the cybercrime portal with evidence, trace the bank account, and send a personal email directly to the bank. While police investigation is a lengthy process, informing the bank via email about the cybercrime will prompt them to freeze the amount in the fraudster’s account, ensuring that the complainant ultimately receives a refund.
