Jashpur. (21:04): Rape accused Shahid Khan, also known as Shahil, who had absconded from the police station, has been arrested. He was apprehended in Sambalpur, Odisha. The cyber cell played a crucial role in his arrest. An FIR was registered against the accused in Jashpur Garden police station (FIR No. 192/2023) under sections 363, 366(A), 376(2), 376(2)(N) of the IPC and sections 4 and 6 of the POCSO Act. Additionally, section 224 of the IPC was registered against the accused for absconding from police custody.
The brief description of the case is as follows that the applicant’s father filed a report in the Bagicha police station on 01.12.2023 that his 16-year-old minor girl has been lured away by some unknown person and taken away with him, based on the said report of the applicant Section 363 IPC in Thana Bagicha. A crime was registered and taken under investigation.
During the investigation of the case, on receiving the information about the presence of the minor victim of the case and the accused Shahid Khan alias Shahil in Korba, on the information of the informer, the police team immediately went to Korba on 17.12.2023 and conducted a raid and took the accused Shahid Khan alias Shahil into custody. She was brought to the police station and the victim was recovered. During interrogation, the minor victim told that the accused had raped her on the pretext of marrying her. During the investigation, sections 366(A), 376(2), 376(2)(N) of IPC were invoked in the case.
Preparations were being made to send the accused on remand by adding 4 and 6 POCSO Act, during this time the accused escaped from police custody after getting the opportunity, on which a separate section 224 IPC was registered against him. A crime has been registered. The said accused is a very vicious person who keeps changing his whereabouts again and again.
A special team was deployed by Superintendent of Police Jashpur Shri Shashi Mohan Singh (IPS) to arrest the absconding accused Shahid Khan alias Shahil, raids were being conducted at various places by the team. During the search, after getting information about the presence of the accused in Sambalpur, a police team was immediately dispatched, the team raided and arrested the accused. *Accused Shahid Khan alias Shahil, age 20 years, resident of Bimda*, after finding evidence of crime against police station Bagicha, he has been arrested on 21.04.2024 and sent to judicial custody.
In the investigation proceedings of the case and arrest of the accused, Deputy Superintendent of Police (AJAC/Crime) Mr. Bhavesh Samrath, Sauni Nasruddin Ansari, Q. Constable 107 Anant Miraj Kerketta, Q.R. 213 Laxman Singh, R. Nandlal Yadav, R. Amit Toppo, R. Amit Bhagat and S.U.N. from Cyber Cell. Harishankar Ram, R. 699 Anil Singh, R. 634 Sonsai Bhagat etc. have played an important role.
