(10:04): Following the instructions of Senior Superintendent of Police, Mr. Santosh Kumar Singh, Raipur Police initiated a special anti-drug campaign called “Nijaat Abhiyan.” This campaign involves continuous action by all police stations and the Anti-Crime and Cyber Unit to enforce the Narcotics Act. A dedicated team from the Anti-Crime and Cyber Unit has been established to effectively combat drug-related activities, with police station in-charges instructed to take stringent action against individuals involved in the sale and distribution of intoxicants.
On April 9, 2024, Police Station Mandir Hasaud received a tip-off regarding an individual transporting illegal liquor from Mandir Hasaud to Chandkhuri on a two-wheeler. Acting on this information and under the guidance of senior officers, the team from Police Station Mandir Hasaud, led by the station in-charge, commenced efforts to locate the described individual and vehicle. The person was eventually intercepted near Arshiwad Dairy Village, Kurud Dam.
During interrogation, the individual identified himself as Govind Raj from Police Station Belgada, District Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. Upon searching the bag in his possession, liquor was discovered. When asked for valid documents regarding the liquor, the accused attempted to mislead the team by failing to produce any documentation. Consequently, the accused was arrested. From his possession, 190 pouvas of English liquor, 96 pouvas of country liquor, and the two-wheeler used for transportation (Hero Maestro scooter with registration number CG 04 PF 6916) were seized, valued at approximately Rs. 76,220/-. A case was registered under Crime number 330/2024, section 34(2) of the Excise Act, at Police Station Mandir Hassaud, and appropriate action was taken.
