Five members of the Sahebganj gang, involved in mobile theft, were arrested; they receive monthly pay

Raipur. (21:03): Police apprehended five members of the Sahebganj gang, including a minor, for stealing seven mobile phones in Raipur and Durg. The accused exploited crowded areas to commit thefts. Those arrested include Shiva Mahato, Jatan Kumar Mahato, Birjhu Singh, and Rahat Kumar Mahato, all residents of Sahebganj, Jharkhand, who receive monthly salaries for their activities.

They undergo training in Sahebganj before executing thefts in other places, with the stolen items reaching the gang leader afterwards. In response to frequent mobile theft incidents, the Anti Crime and Cyber Unit received intel about two individuals attempting to sell mobile phones near a liquor factory at Telghani Naka Chowk under the jurisdiction of Ganj Police Station.

Upon receiving the information, a combined team from the Crime Department and Ganj Police Station, under senior officers’ guidance, proceeded to the reported location and apprehended individuals matching the informant’s description. Identified as Shiva Mahato and Jatan Kumar Mahato from Jharkhand, both were found in possession of mobile phones during the search. When questioned about the phones’ documentation, they provided evasive responses, eventually admitting to their stolen nature. They disclosed involvement with Birjhu Singh, Rahul Kumar Mahato, and a minor, leading to the seizure of seven mobile phones by the police.
