The city will resound with chants of “Jai Shri Ram” as thousands of Hindu devotees join a grand procession. Musical instruments, drums, elephants, and horses will accompany the tableau.
Raipur. (07:04): On April 6, 2024, Pradeep Sahu, convenor of the religious organization Ram Raj Parivar, announced that on April 8, 2024, at 5:00 PM, a grand procession will march through the capital to celebrate the Hindu New Year. The procession will commence from Sapre Shala ground and conclude at Budhapara, passing through City Kotwali, Sadar Bazar, Satti Mata Chowk, Kankali Talab, and Purani Basti. Thousands of devotees from across the state will join the procession, accompanied by traditional musical instruments such as Maharashtra’s Dhol, Banarsh’s Damru Dhol, and Orissa and Chhattisgarh’s Sambalpuri Mahshur Baja. Cultural performances including Raut Panthi dance, Suva dance, and the main Akhara DJ will also be featured, along with a captivating tableau of Shri Ram Darbar decorated with elephants and horses.
In a first for the capital of Chhattisgarh, a 15-foot replica of Lord Ram’s idol from Ayodhya is being prepared, which will be the centerpiece of the grand procession. Devotees eagerly await the opportunity to witness Lord Shri Ram and partake in the procession.
Ajay Gawli, President of Ram Raj Pariwar, emphasized the cultural significance of the Hindu New Year and urged all Hindu followers to uphold and cherish this tradition. The organization has orchestrated this grand celebration to unite and mobilize Hindu devotees. The event is being meticulously organized with the support of prominent figures like Vijay Golu Gawali, Mahendra Singhania, Ajay Gawali, Pradeep Sahu, and Aman Mandavi, among others.
