Chhattisgarh. (19:04): In Chhattisgarh, there’s been a concerning trend of negligence within the health system, prompting frequent visits from officials like the Health Minister, Collector, and CEO to various district hospitals over the past three months.
Despite these efforts, a recent case of negligence surfaced in Korea district. During a media team’s visit to the District Hospital OPD on Thursday evening, doctors were conspicuously absent. Further inquiry revealed a pattern of tardiness and absenteeism among doctors, both in the morning and evening shifts.
At the Korea District Hospital, doctors are supposed to be available in the OPD from 9 am to 1 pm in the morning and from 4 pm to 6 pm in the evening. However, doctors often arrive late in the morning, with their departure times unclear. Additionally, the OPD lacks doctors in the evening, leaving patients with prescribed slips but no medical attention.
During inspections over the past two months, it was found that many doctors at the district hospital consistently reported late for duty or were absent altogether, despite purportedly signing in on time in the attendance register. The CMHO and Health Minister have been pressed for clarifications on this matter.
