Raipur. (02:05): Amidst rising incidents of mobile phone thefts, Senior Superintendent of Police, Mr. Santosh Kumar Singh, has directed all police gazetted officers and station in-charges of Raipur district, along with anti-crime and cyber units, to combat such crimes effectively. They have been instructed to arrest the culprits involved in these thefts.
On 01.05.24, information was received regarding a person in the Devendra Nagar police station area possessing multiple mobile phones for sale. Additional Superintendent of Police City, Mr. Lakhan Patle, and City Superintendent of Police Civil Line, Mr. Anurag Jha, verified the information and instructed the Devendra Nagar police station in-charge to take necessary action. Under his leadership, a team from Devendra Nagar police station visited the location, identified, and arrested a person matching the informant’s description.
During interrogation, the individual identified himself as Dhaneshwar Sagar alias Manak, a resident of Pandri Raipur. Upon searching Dhaneshwar Sagar, the team found him in possession of seven mobile phones. Despite continuous questioning about the ownership and documentation of the phones, he evaded providing any proof. Consequently, he was subjected to strict interrogation and detained for further investigation. He confessed to stealing mobile phones from various locations.
Dhaneshwar Sagar alias Manak was arrested, and seven mobile phones of different brands were recovered from him. A case under section 41(1+4) was registered against him at Devendra Nagar police station under section Ft./379 Bhadvi.
The accused is a habitual criminal with past detentions in various police stations for theft and assault cases.
