(06:04): To enhance security and maintain law and order ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Inspector General of Police Bastar Range Mr. Sunderraj P (IHM), Inspector General of Police Dantewada Range Mr. Kamlochan Kashyap (IHM), and Deputy Inspector General Operations CRPF Dantewada Range Mr. Vikas Katheria (Under the guidance of I.P.S.E.), Superintendent of Police Dantewada Shri Gaurav Rai (I.P.S.E.), coordinated efforts in the border areas, including Dantewada district.
Under the direction of Mr. Smriti Rajnala (I.P.S.E.), Additional Superintendent of Police, and Mr. Ramkumar Burman (I.P.S.E.), Additional Superintendent of Police, Dantewada, a joint operation was conducted on 04/04/2024 based on intelligence received regarding armed Maoists in the forests of Purangel, Badepalli, Dodi Tumnar, and Gampur under the Kirandul police station area. The operation involved the DRG, Bastar Fighters (BFR) Dantewada, and CRPF. While conducting a patrolling and searching operation, Naxalites initiated firing on the police party from the east, prompting the police to retaliate. The Naxalites fled the scene, leaving behind the body of a male Maoist. Weapons, ammunition, and other materials were recovered during the search. The police are continuing to search the area, and an appeal has been made for Naxalites to surrender and join mainstream society.
