Chhattisgarh Update: 2885 centenarian voters to vote; 109 sensitive polling stations identified. Flying squads to address code violations swiftly

Chhattisgarh. (17:03): Chhattisgarh Lok Sabha Election 2024: With the commencement of Lok Sabha elections, the code of conduct is now in effect in Chhattisgarh. State Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Reena Baba Saheb Kangale briefed the media on Sunday about the election preparations, including voter numbers and sensitive centers.

Currently, there has been an increase of 1,20,092 voters in Chhattisgarh. The voter count in the state has risen by 0.6% since the Assembly elections in 2023. Moreover, there has been a notable increase of 15,14,013 voters (7.96%) since the Lok Sabha elections in 2019.

Total number of voters in Chhattisgarh

The Deputy Chief Electoral Officer reported that Chhattisgarh state has a total of 2,05,13,252 registered voters, comprising 1,01,80,405 male voters and 1,03,32,115 female voters. Notably, there are 2,855 voters aged 100 years or above, who will participate in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Additionally, there are 82,476 voters aged above 85 years.

109 sensitive centers in Chhattisgarh

For the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024, Chhattisgarh will have 24,229 polling stations across its 11 Lok Sabha constituencies. Among these, 109 are identified as sensitive centers, while 1,726 are critical centers. There are also 518 inaccessible polling stations. To ensure smooth voting, rigorous security measures will be implemented, including the deployment of a significant number of police and paramilitary personnel.

Moreover, the Election Commission has enhanced the C-Vigil application to facilitate citizen participation and expedite the resolution of complaints regarding code of conduct violations by election officials.

Key details about Lok Sabha elections:

  • There are 19,905 service voters in the state.
  • The Elector-Population Ratio stands at 66.70%, with a Gender Ratio of 1015.
  • The state has 1,91,638 identified disabled (PWD) voters.
  • A total of 732 third gender voters are registered.
  • There are 17 NRI voters in the state.
  • Among the voters, 5,77,184 fall in the 18-19 age group, while 47,11,890 belong to the 20-29 age group.
  • The final electoral rolls were published on February 8, 2024, with copies provided to recognized political parties at the district level. The process of adding voter names continues even after the publication date.
