Raigarh. (22:04): A Kharsia youth has been arrested in a rape case by a girl living in Jashpur district. The victim has alleged that their friendship happened on Instagram. Both used to talk also. A mobile phone was also gifted to the girl by the young man. After a year, she moved to another place to work. After returning, the young man proposed her for marriage and then raped her. The victim blocked his number. Then he used to threaten her by calling from other numbers.
Regarding this, Raigarh police said in the press release that on April 20, the numberless crime diary of the rape case was received from police post Kotba police station Bagbahar district Jashpur by Kotwali Raigarh police station for investigation after establishing the actual crime. Considering the sensitivity of the case, along with registering the crime, the police station in-charge Kotwali sent a team of Kotwali police to the accused youth Gopal Jangde resident of Kharsia. The Kotwali police team caught the accused outside his village and he has been sent on judicial remand today.
Regarding the incident, a girl from Jashpur district applied at the police post Kotba on April 13 and lodged a report that in the year 2022, she befriended Gopal Jangde resident of Kharsia through Instagram and both used to talk on Instagram. In December 2022, Gopal and the girl met in Gharghoda, Gopal gave one of his mobile phones to the girl. After that the girl went out to work. During this time both of them used to talk on mobile. In May 2023, the girl returned to her village. In September 2023, Gopal insisted and called the girl to Gharghoda and brought her to Raigarh on a scooty.
When the girl asked to go home, he forced her to have physical relations with him by telling him about love and marriage. The girl did not like Gopal Jangde’s actions and blocked his number. After which Gopal Jangde called her to Raigarh, threatened to defame her by calling her from other numbers and started physically exploiting her. Fed up with Gopal’s constant threats and misconduct, the girl informed her family and after consultation at home, lodged a report.
Kotwali police today duly arrested the accused Gopal Jangde, father Dukalu Ram Jangde, aged 19 years, resident of village Jamjhor, in front of Ita Bhatta, Main Road police station, Kharsia district, Raigarh, produced him on remand and sent him to jail. On receiving the crime diary at the Kotwali police station, on the instructions of Superintendent of Police Divyang Kumar Patel, the Kotwali police took immediate action and arrested the accused and sent him on judicial remand.
Police station in-charge Kotwali Inspector Sukhnandan Patel, Sub Inspector Deepika Nirmalkar and Hamrah staff played an important role in locating and arresting the accused.
