Bilaspur. (12:04): Police have uncovered a gang specializing in snatching gold chains from women. The gang comprises seven female members who used diversion tactics to escape after stealing. A case has been filed against them under Section 379 34 IPC, and they have been incarcerated.
Additional SP Umesh Kashyap disclosed that the gang members, Bindu Devi, Pooja Devi, Priti Devi, Anita Devi, Savita Devi, Shalu, and Aarti Kumari, hailing from Allahabad, UP, targeted women passengers in autos and crowded areas. They employed distraction techniques to facilitate chain snatching.
Concerning the surge in chain-snatching incidents in the city, the police had deployed informants. Acting on their intel, the police busted the gang. Gold chains seized from the women are now subject to further investigation.
