(18:05): Raj Kundra, husband of Shilpa Shetty, faces further scrutiny as investigations reveal his involvement in a Bitcoin scam orchestrated by Amit Bhardwaj. Kundra received 285 bitcoins, now valued at over Rs 150 crore, intended for investment in Ukrainian bitcoin mining, which never materialized.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has seized assets under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, including a Juhu flat, a Pune bungalow, and equity shares owned by Kundra. This scam, involving M/s Variable Tech Pvt. Ltd., defrauded investors of approximately Rs 6600 crore in 2017, promising a 10 percent return in what was later identified as a Ponzi scheme. Kundra’s legal entanglements also include his arrest in a 2021 pornography case, where he was accused of producing and distributing adult content via the Hotshots app, spending 63 days in jail before being granted bail.
