Finishing the match with patience and determination, Ashutosh remained unbeaten on 66 off just 31 balls, smashing five fours and five sixes. His outstanding performance earned him the Player of the Match award. However, instead of celebrating the achievement solely for himself, the Delhi Capitals star dedicated the honor to former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan, whom he considers his mentor.
Following the match, Ashutosh also connected with Dhawan over a video call, sharing his joy and gratitude for the guidance he has received from the veteran batter.
Ashutosh’s Reaction After Winning the Award
After being named Player of the Match, Ashutosh reflected on his performance and the lessons he learned from the previous season.
“I took a valuable lesson from last year. There were a few occasions where I couldn’t finish the game, and that stayed with me. Over the past year, I worked hard on this aspect and visualized myself handling such situations. I always believed that if I stay till the last over, anything is possible,” Ashutosh said.
He also praised his teammate Vipraaj for his composure under pressure. “Vipraaj played brilliantly. I just told him to keep going and maintain his momentum. He stayed calm when it mattered the most,” he added.
Ashutosh dedicated his award to former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan, whom he considers his mentor. “I want to dedicate this award to my mentor, Shikhar paaji,” he said, expressing his gratitude for Dhawan’s guidance and support.
