Bhagwanpura. (27:04): The bride, adorned with henna on her hands and full makeup, waited eagerly for the wedding procession, but it never arrived. The groom’s side, angered by not receiving Rs 10 lakh in dowry and a car, refused to proceed with the marriage. All the preparations made for the wedding went in vain. The bride’s father later went to the police station to report the incident and demanded action.
Chanchal Rajput, daughter of Joginder Singh from Bhagwanpura village, was scheduled to marry Nitin Kumar, son of Sarvesh Kumar from Pindari Kheda village of Chhibramau police station in Kannauj, on April 18. Everything was arranged from the bride’s side, and the village was in a festive mood. However, a phone call received during the wait brought worrying news—demand for dowry. The groom’s side demanded Rs 10 lakh and a car. When the bride’s father couldn’t meet these demands, the groom’s side called off the wedding.
Throughout the day, negotiations took place between the two families, but the groom’s side remained adamant, and the wedding procession never arrived. The entire village was saddened and angered by the incident. The bride’s father tearfully appealed to the police for action against those demanding dowry.
Jogendra Singh mentioned that he had made all arrangements for the wedding according to his capacity and was eagerly awaiting the wedding procession on the scheduled day. The police station confirmed receiving the complaint and assured that the matter is under investigation. Action will be taken if the allegations are found to be true.
