Following a complaint from the family, Lailunga police apprehended the accused youth for violations under the Udyapan and POCSO Act, subsequently placing him in custody.
Raigarh. (05:04): Harshit Yadav, a resident of Pathalgaon (Jashpur), was arrested by Lailunga police today for allegedly defaming a teenage girl and threatening her family members. He has been remanded into custody.
On August 1, 2023, the father of the girl filed a complaint at Lailunga police station, stating that his daughter had been harassed by Harshit Yadav of Pathalgaon on Facebook. Despite warnings, Harshit continued his lewd behavior and even threatened the girl’s family. He demanded money to prevent defamation. An FIR was registered against Harshit Yadav under various sections of the IPC and the POCSO Act.
Upon learning about the FIR, Harshit went into hiding. Acting on the instructions of Superintendent of Police Mr. Divyang Kumar Patel, the police launched a search operation. With the help of an informer, Harshit was apprehended near his village. He was brought to the police station, interrogated, and evidence was collected. Harshit was subsequently arrested and sent into custody. Inspector Rajesh Jangde, along with head constable Sanjay Yadav and other staff, played a crucial role in apprehending the accused.
